Annual South Asia Workshop

London School of Economics - 20th and 21st May 2019

Following a successful event in May 2018, the Economic History department at the London School of Economics will host a second South Asia Workshop on the 20th and 21st of May 2019.

We invite proposals from researchers (early career or otherwise) that have a dual focus on both: subjects within the general disciplines of economic history and history of economics as well as the South Asia region. The theme of this year's workshop is deliberately broadly defined as 'South Asia and the Development Economy', and we are interested both in the developmental changes in those economies, and what economists (or others) have thought about those changes.

Topics might include (but are not restricted to): land and property rights, labour and migration, agriculture and underdevelopment, law and policymaking, the state and industry, business and entrepreneurship, finance, comparative development and regional inequality.

To apply, please email an abstract (below 500 words) to m.nath1@lse.ac.uk. The deadline for proposals is 31st January 2019.
